About the Organizer

The Department of Law was established in 2017 by introducing a five-year integrated BA LL.B degree program. Established as a unit of the Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies, the Department of Law aims to provide quality education with a professional approach to the budding legal professionals.

The year 2020 has added another feather to its cap with the introduction of the five- year integrated BBA LL.B program. In the year 2022 LLM program has also been introduced. Entry to the five-year course is through the rankings of the CLAT
(Common Law Aptitude Test).

The Department is equipped with requisite facilities like Moot Court Room, Legal Services Clinic, ADR Cell, IPR Cell and Maims Probono Club in affiliation with Ministry of Law & Justice. It has a mix of senior seasoned faculty as well as young and dynamic faculty.

Details about the Event

MAIMS 3rd National Mock Trial Competition, 2024, aims to provide a platform for students across India to showcase and nurture their research skills by competing in a professional and challenging environment.

The 3rd National Mock Trial Competition with its theme – ‘Kidnapping of a child by it’s own parent’ aims to provide awareness towards this critical issue and to furnish and accommodate different arguments towards the essential concern of wellbeing of the Child in the social, physical, educational, psychological and economic perspective.

Following the tradition of 1st National Mock Trial Competition Theme i.e. POCSO Act and 2nd National Mock Trial Competition Theme i.e. Male Victimization, through this, the competition encourages the participants to make the best use of their mind on topics that are still evolving in the field of law and take effective learnings from that.

Eligibility

  • The competition is open for students who are pursuing LL.B three- year/five-year course during the current academic year.
  • Only one team is permitted to participate from each participating Institution/University.
  • Each team shall consist of three members. However, with the prior permission of the organisers, a two-member team shall also be eligible to participate.
  • A team shall require minimum of two Speakers as a mandatory prerequisite. A three and/or two member team shall include one separate or either Speaker, as the Researcher respectively.
  • Each team would be provided with two Witnesses, 45 minutes prior to the Rounds.

Registration Procedure

All the participating teams must confirm their participation by filling out the Registration Form mentioned at the end of this post.

Fee details

  • The participating teams are required to pay Rs. 5000/- as Registration Fees.
  • However, an Early Bird Discount is being offered and the teams availing the offer will be paying Rs. 4500/- on or before 15th May 2024 [23:59 IST].
  • The Last Date for Payment of Registration Fee is 30th June, [202423:59 IST];

  • Winning Team: Rs. 45000
  • Runner-up Team: Rs. 25000
  • Best Witness: Rs. 10,000
  • Best Memorial: Rs. 5,000
  • Best Speaker: Rs. 5,000
  • Best Researcher: Rs. 5000

  • Inauguration and Draw of Lots: 14th Oct. 2024
  • Preliminary Rounds and Researcher Test: 15th Oct. 2024
  • Quarter Final Round: 16th Oct. 2024
  • Semi-Final and Final Round: 25th Oct. 2024
  • Valedictory Ceremony and Result Declaration: 26th Oct. 2024
