Bombay High Court issues notice to Maha Vikas Aghadi constituents in plea challenging October 2021 bandh

In April this year, an affidavit filed by the then Deputy Secretary of the State government claimed that the decision to observe the bandh was not taken by the State Cabinet.

The Mumbai Police also filed an affidavit placing on record its role during the bandh. The affidavit filed by Sanjay Latkar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), laid out the steps taken by the police to ensure that no untoward incident took place and that there was no breakdown of law and order in Mumbai.

The affidavit listed out the cases registered by the police as a result of the bandh. In view of this, the Mumbai Police submitted that the State government cannot be held liable for the alleged incidents as mentioned in the petition.
