CAM tax head Daksha Baxi sets up independently with tax solutions for ‘globally mobile’ individuals & orgs [UPDATE-2]

Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) head of international tax and director Daksha Baxi has started up her own firm, SRI Solutions, in Mumbai, according to her LinkedIn profile.

She had joined CAM in 2018 from Khaitan & Co.

Her daughter, Pooja Baxi-Patel who had joined CAM at the same time as Baxi as a corporate partner, is remaining at the firm.

Update 15:46: As pointed out in the comments, Baxi-Patel is still a corporate partner but also deputy-head of international business development; she very much also continues doing fee-earning work, however.

Managing partner Cyril Shroff had told Bar & Bench: “Daksha had a 3 year contract with us and had now retired as per our retirement age policy. She made a valuable contribution during her stint with us. We wish her well and hope she enjoys her retirement thoroughly.”

We have reached out to her and CAM for comment.

Update 17:11: Baxi said: “I have had a wonderful time at CAM. Worked with some of the most brilliant and brightest lawyers and on some really path breaking transactions and issues.

“It is time for me to move on to focus on my passion. This means doing some fundamental research to provide some solutions through that; some out of the box thinking; write books, thought leadership articles and provide advice and solutions to smaller outfits and individuals on complex tax and cross border issues.

“I believe life for globally mobile individuals has become complex and I am keen to help them so that they are not caught off guard.”
