Central govt notifies appointment of two new judges to Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court

A notification to that effect was issued by the Department of Justice of Union Law Ministry.

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint (i) Shri Rahul Bharti, and (ii) Ms. Moksha Khajuria Kazmi, to be Additional Judges of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, for a period of two years, with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices,” the notification said.

The Supreme Court Collegium had, in September last year, reiterated the names of the two for judgeship at the High Court. The Collegium had first recommended Bharti’s name in March 2021 while Kazmi’s name was recommended in 2019.
