Submissions are accepted for prescriptive and argumentative manuscripts for publication in the Journal of Law from academics, practitioners, and policymakers in the legal and social science communities.

About the Institute

Panjab University Regional Centre (PURC) has been established at the campus of P.U. Extension Library, Ludhiana w.e.f. the academic Session 2003-04. Prof. K.N. Pathak, then Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University, Chandigarh took keen interest and fulfilled the long outstanding demand of the residents of Ludhiana and set up the Panjab University Regional Centre at Ludhiana. A sum of Rs 100 Lakhs was provided for the construction of the academic block by Shri Lala Lajpat Rai, then Member of Parliament, from the M.P. Local Area Development Fund Scheme.

The Institute was formally inaugurated by His Excellency the Governor of Punjab, Justice O.P. Verma on 5th Oct. 2003. A number of new initiatives are being undertaken under the dynamic leadership of Prof. R.C. Sobti, present Vice Chancellor of Panjab University, Chandigarh.

About the Call for Papers

Journal of Law is a peer–reviewed, faculty-edited, open-access interdisciplinary law journal published annually by, the University Institute of Laws, PURC, Ludhiana.

Submissions are invited for prescriptive and argumentative manuscripts for publication in the Journal of Law from academics, practitioners, policymakers in the legal and social science communities.

Submission Guidelines

  • The style of writing should be academic, without errors in syntax, grammar, and punctuation. The language should be crisp and concise.
  • Requisites – originality of the theme, novelty of the subject, clarity of the idea, presentation of subject systematically, linkage of conclusion with contents.
  • Only one co-author is allowed. Plagiarism report with less than 10% plagiarised content and no copyright issues.  Plagiarism Certificate from recognized similarity checking software viz. Urkund or Turnitin. The word limit is exclusive of footnotes and abstracts.
  • The manuscript should follow a logical scheme of arrangement and most ideally address a question of law, a grey area or a hypothesis and provide a conclusive analysis of the same. Please note that the
    manuscript itself should not contain any information that can be used to identify the author.
  • The manuscript must contain more than just a restatement of existing law, facts and analyses and should of itself be novel. The manuscript must add to the existing corpus of knowledge on a particular
    topic.
  • The manuscript should shed light upon recent developments relating to the topic and provide reasons as to why the subject matter is relevant at the present moment.
  • The manuscript must be based on in-depth research on the topic selected and should provide references to the sources in the prescribed mode of citation. Over – citation as well as a lack of criteria
    must be avoided.

Formatting Guidelines

  • (a) Articles 5000-8000 words (b) Book Reviews 2000-2500 words (c) Case Comments 2000-3000 words.
  • The cover letter should include the Name of the author, institution affiliation, title and category of submission, contact of the author including e-mail address, and submission to be sent in MS- Word attachment format with the title of the article as the file name.   
  • Style Guidelines – the main body of the manuscript – 1.5 space in Times New Roman, Main text font size- 12, and footnotes in font size -10.
  • Abstract of not more than 250 words with 3-5 keywords. Main titles must be centered, typed in small capitals, and emphasized in bold. Quotations in double quotation marks, foreign words to be italicized.
  • Citation System- Rules of citation should be derived from the ILI System of Citation or as approved by the editors of the journal.
