Constitution Club for Public Policy and Governance of Department of Laws, Panjab University is organising CONSTINIUS 3.0 Quiz Competition on November 25.

About the Club

The Constitutional Club for Public Policy and Governance was established under the aegis of Department of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh in the year 2022. To make its presence felt and to streamline its activities, the first meeting of the club was convened on 25th April 2022.

With an objective of bringing this platform in the public discourse and for inducting the students to this club, a membership drive was conducted in which a great number of students undertook the enrolment and subscribed to the annual membership of the club.

The Club strives to create an opportunity and in-depth understanding of the nuances of the Constitution. It also aims at forming a platform where students can know more about the Constitutional law and understand the rationale behind various public policies and its impact on governance of the nation. The Club also envisions to sensitize the students regarding various socio-legal issues of the country.

About the Competition

CONSTINIUS – the ultimate Constitutional Law Quiz, is a recognised Event of the Constitution Club, which aims to provide a platform to the quizzers to celebrate the spirit of constitutionalism and to stay updated on significant constitutional challenges and changes.

This year, the Club is organizing CONSTINIUS 3.O after the successful organisation of its two editions. This Event stands as an intellectually stimulating activity in the academic calendar. Through this Competition, we seek to test participants’ knowledge regarding the intricacies and interpretation of various provisions, rules and doctrines of the Constitutional Law.

Eligibility

  • Any undergraduate/posgraduate student from any discipline shall be eligible to participate in this competition.
  • Participation shall be only allowed in team. Each team should comprise of two participants.
  • Two participants registering as a single team shall be from the same institute/college/department.
  • Multiple entries from the same institute/department/college shall be allowed.

Scheme

Prelims:

  • All the teams will compete in preliminary round. It will be an MCQ quiz.
  • There will be a total of 50 questions.
  • Four (4) marks will be awarded for every correct answer and One (1) mark shall be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • 35 minutes shall be given for this round.
  • 20 teams will advance to the next round. If more than one team falls on the 20th spot, a Tie-breaker round shall be conducted.

Semi-Final Round:

  • This will be a “Ask the Question Round.”
  • Each team will be asked 3 Original Questions.
  • 10 Marks will be given for each correct answer. 3 marks shall be deducted for every incorrect answer. No marks shall be deducted for leaving the question unanswered.
  • Each team will be given 30 seconds to answer the question.
  • Timer will start as soon as the Quiz Master starts reading the options.
  • 7 teams shall advance to the next round.

Final Round:

  • This round will be a “Buzzer Round” or “Tap the Table Round”.
  • A total of 20 questions will be asked by the Quiz Master.
  • For Every correct answer 20 marks shall be awarded. However, 10 marks shall be deducted for every incorrect answer.
  • Tie-breaker round shall be conducted in case of a tie.

General Guidelines

  • The competition will be held in offline mode at the venue mentioned above; therefore, participants are required be assure of their physical presence at the venue before the commencement of the event. Failure to mark presence in due time would result in disqualification of the team.
  • Every participant should be present at venue at least 15 (fifteen) minutes before the competition starts. We do not compromise any tardiness. If the participant fails to reach the venue on time, then the organizer will decide unilaterally to disqualify the participants from the competition.
  • During the competition, Participants are expected to maintain the decorum and sanctity of the house.
  • It is mandatory for the participant to carry along his Student ID card as it is mandatory at the time of registration.
  • During the competition, the registered participant cannot be represented by anyone else. No proxy shall be allowed.
  • Use of Unfair Means would lead to disqualification of the team. Furthermore, all perks would be forfeited.
  • Throughout the competition, the decision of quiz masters and organisers shall be binding and conclusive. No correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.
  • Any ambiguity or dispute that may arise during the event shall be handled and resolved at the discretion of the organisers.
