Former Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda moves Delhi High Court for suspension of conviction to contest elections

In his latest plea, Koda points out that the elections in Jharkhand are expected to be conducted in November 2024. If his conviction is not stayed, he would be deprived of the opportunity to contest these elections, Koda submitted.

“In view of Section 8(2) and 8(3) of Representation of Peoples Act, 1951 the Applicant is disqualified from contesting election from the date of conviction to a further period of six years since his release. Therefore, the present application has become necessary for the applicant,” the plea added.
