First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, First Impression
There were no formalities on the first day, just an introduction. Office Timings were 11 am to 5 pm on weekdays and Sundays were off.
Main Tasks
The main task included extensive legal research based on requirements and drafting replies to legal notices as well as assisting in drafting writ petitions. The task also includes daily visits to the District Court of Bhopal and other courts such as the Court of Commissioner.
Work Environment
The work environment was very productive. All feedback pertaining to the work done was given by Sir. Further, all the final documents and research were provided by sir which enabled me to understand how the system works in the real life, which will stay with me forever.
Good things
I was always given the context of my research and other required details, which made my task a lot easier. In the course of my Internship, I was given a lot of practical inputs which are going to be an asset for me in future.
I was allowed to ask doubts and questions related to the work assigned without any hesitation. Sir was very supportive in this regard. Sir always provided me with the final version of the task I was assigned which enabled me to understand the practical requirement of a client.
These inputs will be an asset in future. It enabled me to understand how a practising lawyer thinks and the knowledge gap which exists between a lawyer and a Student of law. Sir always provided me with live and daily life examples while explaining any topic or matter, which helped me to understand how the Law applies and affects our life.
Bad things
There was no bad thing as such.
Stipend
I initially joined as an unpaid internship, but, if you work hard, then your work is not gone unrecognized and a stipend is given.
Lessons Learnt
Understood the difference between theoretical and practical knowledge of the law. I was able to understand that there is no alternative to hard work in a demanding profession like law.
In this internship, you not only learn and understand the courts and judges but you are asked to live a Professional Lawyer’s life and first-hand experience of the perks and hardships that a practising lawyer goes through in his/her day-to-day life.
Overall the experience was great and Sir is also a jovial person, but he is strict when it comes to working.
