First-day formalities, infrastructure, first impression

I reached the by 9:15 am at the commission on my first day of the internship, I waited for my internship coordinator who came at 10:00, then I gave her my cv hard copy and she gave me the printouts of the terms and conditions of the internship program for the undertaking.

I was given 2 general questions related to law and told to write a descriptive long answer in it in 30min after that I was introduced to the program and allowed to the department for my first week of internship.

Main tasks

My internship period consists of various field visits, office work, and meeting complaints. As there are 4 programs under Delhi Commission for Women Mahila Panchayat, Mobile Helpline, Crisis Intervention Cell, and Rape Crisis Cell.

In the first week, I was allocated to work with Mahila Panchayat Program I did field visits with Sun Rise NGO Mahila panchayat team, I visited door-to-door with the panchayat team and give them legal awareness and assist them as per their needs and I did the office work of Mahila Panchayat Program.

In the second week of the internship, I was allotted to work with Mobile Helpline Program, I did field visits with MHL Counsellor and I did office work for the program.

Then for the third Week, I was allotted to work with Crisis Intervention Cell (CIC) as well as Rape Crisis Cell(RCC). I did the office work of these both programs and I was allowed to observe the court proceedings with RCC Lawyers and DLSA lawyers. I observed the various POCSO Court proceedings.

Then for the fourth week, I was allotted to work under a Member of DCW Ms Firdos Khan Mam and a legal counsellor Neelam Mam. I observed the various hearings in the commission, I learnt to do the notings in the commission files, I made the various success stories of the disposed of cases in which justice is served, and I did various research on the topics which were allotted to me.

My overall experience at Delhi Commission for Women was very good, I really learnt many things from various people. I really thank Delhi Commission for Women for selecting my application.

Work environment

The working environment was friendly even but it was formal.

Good things

Everyone was cooperative and understanding. I got to learn many things there.

Bad things

No such bad things. Everything was upto the mark.

Details about accommodation and commute

As I used to do up and down from my place it was almost 1 hour 40 minutes travel for one side from my place. Accommodation is available in Laxmi Nagar.

Anything else?

The timings for the internship were 10:00 am to 5:30 pm. I received the Internship Certificate as well as Recommendation Letter from Commission.
