How did you Apply?

I got to know about it from the BSLSA website after that we had to email the required document which was asked in the notice along with the id card of the college and recommendation letter. After a few days, BSLSA released the list of selected candidates. if anyone wants to apply, he can apply in the month of March-April and Oct-Nov by following the guidelines given on the BSLSA website in the notice section.

First Day Formalities, Infrastructure, First Impression

The first day was in the virtual mode in which we were made familiar with the office bearer of the BSLSA and what are the objective of different legal services and how it came into existence, and have been told to report respective DLSA which was allotted.

Main Tasks

There was no such task given on a day-to-day basis. We just have to write a research paper on any one of the topics which were provided and have to observe the functioning and activities of BSLSA and DLSA and the proceeding of district court including the Magisterial Court, Court of Session, and special court like excise court. We have also visited the district jail and various other institutions.

Work Environment

The work environment was neither good nor too bad. It was a mix. As it was in district court, and it was the first initiative which BSLSA has started to allot different DLSA those who have applied for internships. Office bearers of the court were not familiar with this initiative they were asking a lot of questions.

Good things

The good thing about this internship was that there was a lot of learning, and we got first-hand practical experience about the district court i.e., the trial court from where the journey of justice starts.

We were given an opportunity to visit jail there we interacted with a lot of prisoners and got to know how they are feeling now, why they did the crime, if there is any remorse they have now, and what will they do after completing punishment, or if they will be exonerated. I got interesting answers which helped me to understand the mentality of the prisoners.

Bad things

I had no such bad experience during this internship. I had a great time learning and experiencing the functioning of the district court.

Accommodation & Conveyance to Office

I used to travel via trains to the court along with my co-intern.

Stipend

The internship was unpaid. Lunch and snacks were provided by the secretary of DLSA.

Anything Else?

The lesson which I learned from there is that there is no substitute for hard work. If you have capability and skills, you will be rewarded, especially in the field of law where a lot of challenges and changes are required to which we can contribute a lot.
