First Day Formalities, Infrastructure, First Impression

The Commission has various divisions as Health, Education, JJ, POCSO and Child labour and every division has been divided into different regions for smooth functioning of the institution.

On the first day of my internship, I reported on the 5 th floor. I had to fill my details in the register that is kept outside the office. After that, I was oriented by Niket Sir and he also asked me to fill a form and write a joining letter. After these formalitites, I was allocated the department.

Main Tasks

Under child labour department, I dealt with various cases where the children who were involved in child labour; their education was at stake and I was given the responsibility of following up on the proper measures that were being taken by appropriate authorities such as the CWC in admitting the rescued child into a school.

The department allocation is random and you can even get your department changed after a week or so. I worked as an intern under the guidance of Ms. Payal Sharma, a consultant with the Child Labour Division.

Under her supervision, I gained knowledge of the Commission’s operations, the types of Child Labour cases it handles, and the types of Child Labour complaints that are received, taken, and rejected (rather than passed to other institutions).

I also got a little bit of exposure to interact with the district magistrates from various districts and had the chance to work on action taken reports for several cases.

Good things

Working with NCPCR was a great experience. Moreover I also understood the value of education for the nation’s youth. Children who drop out of school are commonly shown to be more susceptible to child labour. Due to the pandemic, there have been more kids dropping out of school recently around the nation.

Numerous families moved back to their hometowns, which also raised the number of school dropouts. I was also asked to submit a report of mas also asked to submit a report of my work done on daily basis so it is important to keep a track of all the work.

Stipend

None.
