About Audible

Audible is an American online audiobook and podcast service that allows users to purchase and stream audiobooks and other forms of spoken word content. This content can be purchased individually or under a subscription model where the user receives β€œcredits” that can be redeemed for content monthly and receive access to a curated on-demand library of content.

Audible is the United States’ largest audiobook producer and retailer. The service is owned by Audible, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., headquartered in Newark, New Jersey.

About the Opportunity

A Corporate Counsel Audible IN, will be a member of the Audible APAC and the global Amazon Entertainment legal team, and support the Audible IN business team on content, marketing and other matters, as well as regional and global initiatives.

This role will be based in Mumbai, reporting to the Senior Corporate Counsel, IN, based in Singapore

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide inputs in structuring, drafting, the licensing, distribution, production, marketing, and other commercial agreements.
  • Support in reviewing documentation on the development and production of original content and provide inputs on production and post-production related legal matters.
  • Provide ongoing legal inputs across a range of fields, including intellectual property, marketing review, consumer affairs and regulatory compliance.
  • Support international expansion matters and other projects
  • Provide compliance training to the business teams
  • Travel as required

Eligibility Criteria

  • Qualified to practice law in India. (Qualification to practice in another jurisdiction is a plus)
  • Extensive attorney experience in content development, IP acquisition and licensing, content production, rights and clearances, and marketing
  • Worked with a studio, production company, or an entertainment and media law firm
  • Extensive experience in drafting and negotiating entertainment contracts

Other Skills Required

  • Strong legal and business judgment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, together with proficiency in local territory language(s)
  • Experience structuring, drafting, negotiating, and closing a broad range of commercial contracts
  • Ability to analyze and assess business processes, spot issues and propose/implement solutions
  • Ability to function autonomously yet communicate laterally and upwardly with ease
  • Passion to embrace challenges and drive meaningful solutions, including amid complexity and uncertainty
