The public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Uttar Pradesh resident Intezar Hussain Sayed has sought a stay on the release of the film. The film is set to be released on March 11, Friday.
The plea stated that the trailer of film seemed to depict that the movie was about Muslims killing the Kashmiri Pandits thereby hurting the sentiments of the Muslim community.
He claimed that the whole movie showed one-sided view of the incident which could ignite and inflame members of the Hindu community and possibly trigger violence and immeasurable destruction across the country.
The movie “will not only hurt the religious sentiments of Muslim community but also ignite emotions and inflame members of the Hindu community with clear possibility of triggering violence in all parts of India,” the plea said.
The plea also claimed that with elections being held in various States, there is scope of misuse of incident by political parties which could escalate to full blown communal violence.
Till the hearing of this plea, the petitioner prayed that the trailer of the film be taken down immediately.
