The DPIIT-IPR Chair is established at Osmania University under the SPRIHA scheme of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

The IPR Chair aims to promote IPR Culture and contribute to IPR research and knowledge. The DPIIT-IPR Chair at Osmania University looks forward to collaborate with academics, researchers and industry to promote effective utilization of IPRs. 

About the Opportunity

The DPIIT-IPR Chair at Osmania University, is organizing a Know Your IP series of Weekly Lectures/ Interactions/ Interviews with the primary objective of dissemination of knowledge on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs). It will offer insights and inputs on various forms of IPRs relevant to all the stakeholders, by demystifying the fundamentals of IP and highlighting the recent developments in the Intellectual Property (IP) domain.

About the Resource Person

Ashok Ram Kumar, an Alumni of Osmania University, and an Attorney with a Master’s Degree in IPR. He is the Founder of Wordict-IP® (An exclusive 30 year old boutique IP Law Firm), and has 34 years of handling IPR issues, be it Litigation, Enforcement, Valuation or Prosecution, with special focus on Patent Litigation, Trademark Litigation, Copyright Litigation and Design Litigation at various levels from Trial Stage, Appellate Stage and at Supreme Court.

He has experience in handling issues pertaining to Intellectual Property Law (filing of IP Applications, prosecuting IP Applications, enforcement through Litigation and Valuation of IP, Anti-counterfeiting etc.). He has also handled filing and prosecuting of Applications in USA, ARIPO, OAPI, EU and South East Asia. In addition to the above, he has addressed issues pertaining to IP Audit and Valuation for Companies for their Acquisitions, Mergers and Annual Assessments.

He has lead Corporate Training sessions, Lectures on specific IPR and IT issues for various sectors, including Business Houses, National Institute of Fashion Technology, CII, APTDC, JNU, JNTU, NIT and other Government and Non-government Organizations.

The other forte of his Practice is handling issues pertaining to Information Technology Law, Corporate IT Security Issues and Cyber Space Property Rights etc. which also includes Litigation concerning Cyber Crimes, Forensics, Digital Foot Printing and Analysis.

He is also a Certified Mediator from BIMACC, Bangalore, with focus on IPR Mediation. He is a Member of the AIPPI, INTA and the Intellectual Property Law Practitioners’ Association, India.
