Good things about the University based on your personal experience

Some of the good things that I experienced about my law college in online mode are:

  1. First of all, my college is a morning college which generally runs from 6 am to 11 am and our college is very strict with timing. since it’s a morning college so, we get enough time to do internships with our college.
  2. Most of the professors are really good and experienced but their method of teaching is old and conventional, they provide us with detailed lectures and notes on our syllabi for each semester.
  3. My college often use to organize cultural programs, sports etc. and provides the students with opportunities to participate in the programs
  4. My seniors are really helpful and approachable, and my classmates are friendly and always ready to help, and they are really talented.
  5. My college has many committees but apart from that, we have a student union, which helps the student.
  6. We have a library, and we not only can issue books for reading but can issue the book for our entire semester and take it to our place for reading though most of the books are of old editions.
  7. Lastly, the college fee is reasonably low.

Bad things about the University based on your personal experience

Some of the bad things that I experienced about my law college are:

  1. There are many committees in our college, but most of them are either not active or not working at their full potential.
  2. We have very limited access to the library because the library timings are 8 AM to 12 PM and our college time is from 6 AM to 11 AM. Also, we don’t have any online research database.

How’s the faculty?

Most of the professors are really good and experienced, they had good knowledge about their respective subjects although because of Covid-19 I couldn’t meet many of them personally.

The best thing about my college is that the teachers are always willing to help the students. But as I mentioned above the method of teaching is very conventional.

Sometimes they preferred to talk in Bengali but that is not a problem because the mode of teaching is English.

How’s the infrastructure? Mention some of the things that exist.

Our college building is old, and the campus is not very big, but our classrooms are big enough to accommodate more than 100 students.

We have Auditorium, conference room and a student union office. We have a library, but it is too small, and the reading room is also very small. We have a canteen also.

How’s your hostel experience?

We don’t have any hostel at our college so, I cannot talk about it any more. But I think that it’ll be better if we have a college hostel.

Students get more time to interact in a hostel and developed a sense of harmony within themselves.

How are your peers?

In my peers mostly I’m talking about my batch mates, who are good and helpful. Our college enjoys very cordial junior and senior relations.

The seniors are really helpful and always ready to guide me whenever I approached them also, I don’t know Bengali but, they try to talk with me in Hindi/ English with me. My peers are really supportive and helpful.

How are the placements in your college?

we don’t have any placement cells in our college. we do not get any placement in our college. So, those who have made up their mind about corporate will going to find it a bit difficult as they have to go ahead with themselves.

But as our college is a morning college, we get enough time to do as many internships as possible.

How are the co-curricular activities in your college?

Our college has provided us with opportunities to participate in many national and international level moot competitions, debates, extracurricular activities etc.

Our active committees use to organise webinars and events.

What are some of the things you’d advise a 1st-year aspirant who enters your college?

Some of the things that I would like to advise the first year students are:

When I entered the college, it was going on in an online format so, I missed the opportunity to interact with our peers. But as the classes have started in the physical mode so, I advise the 1st year aspirant to use this opportunity to its fullest.

And use your first year to explore each and everything that you want from your academic career. Start taking exposure to various legal fields, do participate in moots, debates, and other extracurricular and co-curricular activities.
