IDIA is conducting its 4th National Essay Writing Competition and is inviting submissions by February 20, 2023.

About IDIA

Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access to Legal Education, commonly abbreviated as IDIA, is a non-profit organisation working in India founded by the late Prof. (Dr.) Shamnad Basheer.

It aims to empower underprivileged children by giving them access to quality legal education.

It is a student-run movement to train underprivileged students and help them transform into leading lawyers and community advocates.

About IBC Laws

IBC Laws is a web-based resource that maintains an online legal database of Corporate Resolution, Compromise & Arrangement and other major fields.

About the Competition

The National Essay Writing Competition is IDIA UP Chapter’s flagship annual initiative. Through the event, we aim to promote the art of legal research and writing while also contributing to a social cause.

After the huge success of the first three editions, we are back with our 4th Edition. In collaboration with Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law Blog (IBC Laws), this edition will be bigger and better than ever!

Contemporary Issues in Arbitration, Corporate, and Competition Laws.

Category-A: Corporate Law and Competition Law

Eligibility Criteria

Entries may be made only by students currently pursuing an education in law.

Submission Guidelines

1. The sub-themes mentioned above are not exhaustive, and any submission related to the broad theme would be considered for the Competition.
2. Co-authorship of up to two authors is allowed.
3. The manuscript shall possess Times New Roman font with justified alignment, font size 12 and line spacing 1.5.
4. Authors should preferably use hyperlinks within the text to cite the resources instead of footnotes. If hyperlinking the resources is not possible, authors may use Oxford Standard OSCOLA (4th edition) or any uniform citation style to cite authorities as endnotes.
5. Authors should restrict their submissions between 1800-2000 words (exclusive of endnotes).
6. The copyright over the submission remains with the respective author(s).
7. It should be ensured that the manuscript sent is
original and does not infringe the copyright of any person/institute, etc.

How to Submit?

1. Subject of the mail should read: “Submission-IDIA Essay Writing Competition.”
2. The essay must be submitted in a .doc/.docx format to idialucknowfr23@gmail.com.
3. A separate word file must be sent, including a brief description of the author(s).
4. The minimum contribution for the registration will be Rs. 150/- for a single author and Rs. 200/- in case of co-authorship.
5. Submission can be made in only one of the two categories. If the author(s) want to submit in both categories, they should register again and make the minimum contribution for the other category as well.

  • The minimum contribution for the registration will be Rs. 150/- for a single author and Rs. 200/- in case of co-authorship.
  • IDIA scholars are not required to pay the amount.
