About the University
Established in 2001, the University School of Law and Legal Studies (USLLS) aimed to administer a Five Year Integrated Professional Law Course and function as an institution for advanced legal studies and has become one of India’s top law Universities. It marked a significant milestone as the first University Law School situated in close proximity to the Supreme Court, Delhi High Court, subordinate courts, commissions, tribunals, and the monitoring offices of national and international voluntary organizations.
About the Competition
The Patent Drafting Competition is being held by the Intellectual Property Rights Cell of University School of Law and Legal Studies in collaboration with the IPU-IPR Cell as part of its IPR Week 2024. This competition invites participants to showcase their skills in crafting innovative patent applications that push the boundaries of creativity and legal expertise.
Eligibility
Open to all students enrolled in LLB 5 years, 3 years courses, PhD, and LLM courses.

- Registrations Start: 25th April 2024
- Release of the Problem: 25th April 2024 on all social media platforms
- Last Day for Registration: 30th April 2024
- Final Submission Deadline: 15th May 2024
- Result Declaration: 25th May 2024

Submission Criteria
- Determine Novelty: Ensure your invention demonstrates novelty, i.e., it is not publicly disclosed or known.
- Determine Inventive Steps: Identify inventive steps or non-obviousness in your invention, showcasing its uniqueness.
- Drafting Patent Specification: Create a comprehensive patent specification covering all aspects of your invention.
Patent Specification
- Title of Invention: Clearly state the title of your invention.
- Field of Invention: Specify the field or area to which your invention pertains.
- Background of the Invention: Provide context and background information relevant to your invention.
- Object of the Invention: Clearly outline the objectives or goals of your invention.
- Summary of the Invention: Summarize the key features and aspects of your invention.
- Detailed Description: Offer a detailed explanation of your invention, including its components, operation, and any embodiments.
- Claims: Define the scope of your invention through clear and concise claims.
- Abstract: Provide a brief summary of your invention.
- Brief Description of Drafting (if any): Include any additional information or explanations regarding the drafting process.
