Unjust to stop online courses when students already enrolled: Calcutta High Court to NUJS

However, the High Court opined that since NUJS was a premier institute, qualifications granted by them were of high value. Therefore, no student would ordinarily go behind an announcement to try and verify whether UGC had approved it.

The students were most likely to presume that such approval had been obtained from the University Grants Commission,” the Court said.

In this regard, the bench highlighted that the students enrolled had not only spent money, but also extended their time and energy in pursuing the courses.
