How did you apply for the internship?

I did my internship when I was in my 2nd semester.

I applied for the online internship by mailing them my cover letter and showing interest for the opportunity.

I was then asked to join the WhatsApp group and got the message for an interview at the same time.

The interview took place through a Whatsapp video call.

The interview was not about the knowledge of various laws, it was a general interview for checking the personality and attitude towards learning.

The results were declared in the evening in the Whatsapp group itself.

First day formalities, infrastructure, first impression

An introductory session was held in which we all introduced ourselves and get acquainted with each other.

In the introductory session, we all were told to act like a team and always take stand for our team members even if we had to go against the Ravi sir.

I still remember he told us that during this internship, our first priority should be our team, then our team members and then we ourselves.

Now, Ravi sir discussed the timings of our batch. But we encountered a big problem.

Some of our batch mates had college classes from 8:00 AM – 3:00 pm.

Some even had their classes extended till 6:00 pm and I myself had my classes till 4:00 pm.

So, what should be the timings, we all wondered?

Sir suggested 5:00 pm timings and said some students have to sacrifice but we all stood against him like a team.

We told him that these timings are not good as some students will suffer a substantial amount of loss in their studies as they have to skip their college classes.

So, sir suggested removing those students who have that problem but again we all stood against him and took a stand for our team members.

Then Ravi sir told us that he was really elated to see unity like this and he was just bluffing to see if we really can take stand for our team members and can we fight against him for our team members.

So, it was just a test to check our unity and bond.

Sir told us that he will take sessions at a time which is suitable to all the interns even if he had to take it at 10:00 in the night. He just wanted to see us stand like a team.

So, finally our batch timings were decided at 6:00 pm.

Even before starting the internship we learnt an imperative lesson of team work and unity.

During the internship also he often tried to instigate us.

When some of our team members didn’t join on time due to some issues.

He bluffed us by saying that we should start without them and we all used to take stand for that team member and used to convince sir to wait till that member came.

Main Tasks

Practical Knowledge is Unbeatable.

Theoretical Knowledge without practical touch to it is similar to that of dal without tadka.

One of the best things that has happened was to get an internship under Adv. Ravi sir’s law chambers.

I have learned things beyond books which can only be learned through someone’s experience.

Every single theory that sir taught was supported by its practical application in the field of law.

We were also taught legal ethics, morals and loyalty towards our uniform. We were taught how a judgement is read with a legal mind.

The environment was amazing and non depressing to be specific. It was one of the best internships l’ve pursued so far.

I just wanted to share with people how a senior advocate of his stature treated the interns with nothing less than respect and validity.

We were never without a case, and we were never ever bored.

Whenever we had sessions, sir gave us drafting of various cases and asked us to tell him what arguments we thought would be accurate except the ones that were already framed.

As a first year student, I was scared, but I held my ground, and he validated my answers if they had merit. This truly motivated me to be better.

Instead of making us strive by reprimanding us, he explained to us what had merit and what did not.

At that point in time, I had nothing to compare that internship with, as it was my first internship.

But today I’m nothing but immensely grateful to sir!

Work Environment

Learn from the experience of others because you can’t live long enough to try them all yourself.

I have learnt things beyond books which can only be learnt through someone’s experience.

Apart from gaining knowledge regarding the profession, I also learnt about the psychological approach in which a lawyer should proceed.

Also, I got to know about the ethics that a legal professional should have and practice.

The most interesting part of this internship was where sir shared his personal experience during while dealing with the cases.

I learnt about the actual meaning of black coat and the loyalty of a lawyer towards his uniform.

I feel privileged to be a part of this internship.

Good Things

All the days of our internship were systematically planned and were very interactive.

The best thing about this internship is that sir has kept only 20 people in a batch to keep the sessions interactive.

How to behave in a court, how to present our arguments and what legal profession signifies along with theoretical and practical aspects of law, were taught in these sessions.

We also attended live case proceedings and got to know about the various other pragmatic things.

Bad Things

There were no bad things.

Stipend

No stipend was available.

Details about accommodation and commute

It was a virtual Internship.

Anything else?

It was much more than an internship for me, and perhaps for most of us it was a life changing experience.
