Name of the intern

Debamoy Mukherjee

Name of your college

Xavier University, Bhubaneswar

Name of the course and year of study

1st Year, BBA. LLB (Hons.)

Name and address of the organisation

Hope Foundation – 39, Panditiya Pl, Dover Terrace, Ballygunge, Kolkata, West Bengal – 700029.

Duration of internship

From: 01/05/2021 Till: 12/07/2021

How did you apply for the internship?

I had mailed my CV along with a cover letter at office@hope-foundation.in.

Usually, the confirmation comes within 2-3 weeks.

First day formalities, infrastructure, first impression

On the first day of internship, we were segregated into two groups.

My group was assigned to the Society for Indian Children’s Welfare (SICW).

Main Tasks

My main task was only writing about 10-15 “Progress Reports” per day about the children who received sponsorship mainly from Irish Citizens.

Work Environment

The work environment is quite good and friendly.

There was no such pressure of completing daily targets.

My mentor continuously cheered me up and was always there to help me out.

Good Things

I learned about team management and administration.

As a student of business administration, I learned to work in a united manner.

Bad Things

As a law student I literally learned nothing from this internship.

On the contrary I had to deposit a certain amount of money as “donation”.

Stipend

No stipend was given.

Details about accommodation and commute

Honestly, the first impression was not very pleasant as the internship coordinator herself did not know what to do and where to assign the interns.

Finally some other person arrived and sorted the matter out.

Anything else?

I think I could have done a better internship during the pandemic.
